Western France is well-known for its wide selection of superb golf courses to suit all standards and budgets. Here we introduce you to a few local courses, providing some idea of the facilities they offer. In addition, you will also find a link to their websites, where applicable.

La Bretesche

Chateau and lake at La Bretesche Golf Course

The course at La Bretesche is in Missillac, in the Loire-Atlantique department, a short drive from La Roche-Bernard (Morbihan). The domain is situated amongst glorious woodland, boasting a dramatic 15th century chateau and a lake as a backdrop. Can you  imagine a more perfect setting for a round of golf? However, booking is advisable here at popular times of the year, so please remember to get organised!

The 18-hole course is open all year round, and is a 6015 metre par 72 course. It offers several putting greens and a Pro Shop with club hire available. Moreover, the club offers catering facilities on the premises.

Golf at La Baule

The International golf course at La Baule, is less than 30 minutes from La Roche Bernard. It is situated amongst chestnut and oak woods. It offers two attractive and fairly challenging 18-hole courses: the Lucien Barrière course at 5981 metres and the Diane Barrière-Desseigne one at 6197 metres. Both are par 72. The domain also features a third course: the François André. It has 9-holes and is 2973 metres with a par 36.

Consequently, Green Fees for a single round range from 38 euros to 94 euros depending on the time of year. However, discounts are offered when multiple rounds are booked. This is a very popular course so you should book your teeing off times 24 hours in advance.

Savenay

Savenay golf course, Loire Atlantique, Pays de la Loire, France

Savenay, 20 minutes due south from La Roche Bernard, hosts another great course: the Blue Green Savenay Golf Club.The 6250 metre, par 73 course is situated near Nantes and overlooks the Loire river. It is a high quality course running along open valleys and through chestnut woodland with lakes. It also features a shop and restaurant.

Other Local Courses

Nantes-Vigneux – The Golf Club de Nantes is close to the Route Departmentale 81, near Vigneux-de-Bretagne. An 18-hole, 5851 metre, par 72 course, it is situated at the heart of a 130 acre wooded domain. The Cens river runs through the estate. This course requires more precision than power.

Saint-Jean-de-Monts – 8km of fine, sandy beaches run along the golf club of Saint-Jean-de-Monts. It is a 5962 metre, par 72 course, located in an area of outstanding beauty. As a result, this stunning course is regularly classed among the 30 most beautiful French golf courses.
