Nicola has visited the Gardens of Brocéliande, large floral gardens near Rennes in France. The gardens are open to the public and contain specialised plant collections, such as the French national iris collection.

The megaliths at Monteneuf are a favourite haunt of Nicola. A mystical place. A megalith is a large stone that has been used to construct a structure or monument, either alone or together with other stones.
Nicola was so impressed on her recent visit to the submarine pens and town of St Nazaire, that she has gone back for another look, following it up with a visit to the modern exhibition of Machines de L’Ile in Nantes.
The French coastal town has a big World War 2 history – it was the Atlantic base for German U-Boats and was often the subject of allied bombing raids. Today it is a major shipbuilding town.
