A Peaceful Setting in Beautiful French Countryside
The house is pleasantly situated in open countryside on the edge of 'La Briere', one of the many national parks in France, with plenty of wildlife and it's own canal system where guided tours take place and boats may be hired. Close by at Missillac is a Chateau (La Bretesche) complete with picturesque lake and superb golf course as well as several good restaurants and food shops. La Roche-Bernard is 5 minutes from the house by car and enjoys a very scenic location on the river Villaine. Pleasure trips may be taken on the river during the holiday season, and canoes can be hired.
The town itself is very old and historic. It has many restaurants, describing itself as a ‘Ville Gastronomique’, and shops. The area is blessed with some of the best beaches in France, the closest of which is about 20 minutes from the house by car at Penestin. There are a number of other beaches within about a 30 minute drive including the stylish resort of La Baule with its fashionable shops, tree-lined avenues and magnificent 9 kilometre long sandy beach. About 1 hour to the North is the Golfe Of Morbihan with its inland sea and Carnac, a very popular resort with excellent beaches, restaurants, and its famous standing stones (megaliths). If you are travelling from the UK, Brittany Ferries offer a variety of sailings to ports within easy drive from the house, and there are now many local airports that are being served by low-cost carriers from the UK.
